PART 1: SPEAKING FOR THE STRUGGLE
Mizery is forever evolving, maturing and learning as a person. He represents the average black adult male struggling to find inner and outer peace in a world of constant change. His attitude is a self-defense mechanism found among many of the disenfranchised African -American (Canadian) youth. It's purpose is to shock, disturb and offend ... his lyrics are delivered with the same anger and despair felt at the time of their conception.

"I don't necessarily STILL feel the same way I did when I wrote some of my tracks, BUT seeing that I did once feel that way... I think it's important for people to understand why and how someone could feel that way, because some people still do. I try to address YOU ALL. Everybody...women, men, white, black, religious, delinquent, Christians, Muslims and Jews."
Of Zairian descent, Mizery tries to bring about a better understanding of the Africans struggle for peace, love, justice, equality and happiness through positive and honest expression. His name at birth; Shebang Kavuandula means " he who forgives but doesn't forget.
"I like addressing sensitive topics, because they instigate and steer up conversation. I like to make my audience question what they think they know and what they believe in. Seeing that we (generation x) are in a period of redefinition, we need to question everything we were taught and correct the mistakes of our fathers. So that we may understand each other's different perspectives on history, religion, mans relation to God and his creation. That's my approach."
